Boogie Down with a Dancing Skelton card!

I am so excited that 12 x 12 cardstock is on sale now at Cutcardstock.com.  It helps when I want to make a 5" x 7" card and also use card accents in the same color.

Supplies:

1 sheet 12 x 12 cardstock (I used Basis Dark Purple)
1 sheet 12 x 12 cardstock Malmero Perle' Blanc
1 sheet 8 ½ x 11cardstock ( Pop Tones Sour Apple)
1 sheet coordinating patterned paper ( I used a collection by Stampin' Up called Cast a Spell)
Black ink (I used Memento Black Tuxedo)
Stamps (these are from Inkadinkadoo's Skull set)
3D Foam Tape
Edge punch, if desired (I used the large spider web by EK success)
Craft Knife and Cutting Mat
Glue Dots
A Penny

Step One: Cut a 10 x 7 piece from your 12 x 12 Basis Dark Purple cardstock.  Score at 5" on the 10" side. This creates your card base.

Step Two:  Cut coordinating patterned paper to 4 ½ x 6 ½. Scissor distress edges by running open scissors along the edge of the paper.  It will take off the straight edge and leave a jagged, rough appearance.

Step Three:  Cut a 3 ½" x 4" piece from your remaining Basis Dark Purple cardstock.  Cut a
3" x 3 ½” from Pop Tones Sour Apple cardstock.

Step Four:  Stamp Sentiment onto Sour Apple Cardstock.  Mount to Dark Purple Cardstock, and then mount to the card front.

Step Five:  Stamp Skeltons on a portion of the Malmero Perle Blanc cardstock.  Fussy Cut the skeletons.  Adhere two with 3D Foam Tape to either side of the matted sentiment block, leaving room in the center for the third skeleton.

Step Six:  Using 3D Foam Tape with the backing still attached, lay the last skeleton onto the card front to determine the best position.  When you have centered the skeleton, make a small pencil mark on the card.  Cut a hole slightly larger than your piece of 3D Foam Tape at your mark.  Be sure to round the bottom of the hole you've created, to help the skeleton "dance."

Step Seven:  For the motion, you'll need a 1" x 7" scrap of Dark Purple Cardstock and a penny.  Fold the 1" x 7" cardstock in half, creating a 1" x 3 ½” strip.  Adhere the penny inside the cardstock strip at the fold with glue dots.  Use Glue Dots to seal the strip at the top.

Step Eight:  Place the third skeleton on top of the card, making sure the 3D foam tape pokes through the hole you created.  I used a second layer of 3D Foam Tape to ensure there was enough clearance.  Adhere the 1" x 3 ½”  strip you created in step seven to the back of the foam tape, penny side down.

Step Nine:  Finish card as desired.  I cut a 4 ¾ x 6 ¾ piece of Malmero Perle' as an inside liner for the card, punching a border with the spider web border punch and then stamping a dancing skeleton on the inside.

Hope you have fun with this technique- it's also fun to make bobble head cards using the same technique.  The trick is to cut the strip of cardstock that holds your penny the same length as the card.  With larger "bobbing" images, you can create larger holes - you really just want to be sure the holes you create are covered by the images that bobble.

Happy Stamping!

Katherine
