Fluttering By...

Who doesn't like a butterfly card with a sweet sentiment?

I, too, was inspired by the challenge, and although I changed the purple for pink, I kept the turquoise and butterfly inspiration.  I used an emboss technique for the sentiment of the card.

First, I used a turquoise A6 folded border card  with a pink border.  I stamped "Fluttering by to say hi!" in VersaMark ink onto the lower right corner.  Then, I embossed with clear detail embossing powder.

Next, I cut PopTones Razzleberry cardstock using my Cricut and CTMH's Art Philosophy cartridge, I cut several butterflies ranging in size from ¼" to ¾ ".  I also cut one butterfly at 2 ¾".

To create the clouds, I created a stencil using some leftover cardstock and my Fiskars cloud punch.  Then, I sponged CTMH White Daisy Ink onto the open part of my stencil, especially over the sentiment.  When using a pigment ink, use caution that you do not have ink on the back of your stencil, as pigment ink takes a long time to dry and it can smear.

Once you've sponged in your clouds, remove ink from the embossed sentiment (I just used a facial tissue!).  Viola! The color of the card shines through, because it was previously embossed.   Since I was working with pigment ink, I used my heat tool to heat any sponged cloud areas to dry the ink faster to make it easier to work with the card.

Next, fold the large butterfly in half and place red line tape on the back of just the body of the butterfly.  Folding the butterfly helps to give the wings the dimension they need.

Next, I positioned the large butterfly onto the card and adhered it to the card front, upper right.   Keep in mind that if you are mailing your card, the large butterfly should be placed completely within the dimensions of the card front, so that it will fit in your envelope.  Then, I placed the ¾" butterflies flat onto the card, followed by the ½” butterflies and finally the ¼" butterflies towards the bottom.

To add some sparkle, I used CTMH red/purple assortment of sparkles. I used large sparkles on the large butterfly's body, and the tiniest sparkles surrounding the smaller butterflies.

Happy Stamping!
