Embellished Spring Greeting Card

Hi everyone... Today's tutorial combines Curious Metallic paper and a great shape. I don't send cards nearly as often as I'd like to. When I do design a card, I like to create patterns out of paper.

STEP 1.
Find a way to create a great shape. Starting with a great shape makes the embellishment process easier. The edges from the die can be used to help in the design.

Using my Accucut die, I trim out the card shape. This is a 5" x 7" ornate frame...
This card fits inside of an A7 envelope.

STEP 2.
Start prepping the embellishments... I decided to create a striped pattern.

I then measure strips of Curious Metallic Lime paper. I don't mind writing right on the curious because
this is the side that will be glued down.

STEP 3.
Trim your stock

Again, I like to use an exacto blade, but as long as you have your lines
drawn perfectly straight, you can use the method that's most comfy to you.

STEP 4.
Glue the strips to your card. Try to do it in an interesting way.

Use glue for this step, but try not to use too much on the portion that will
be hanging off. You don't want to have to trim through glue residue.

STEP 5.
Flip the card over and trim the strips so that they are flush with the cards die-cut edge.

You can use an exacto knife or scissors, just be careful not to
compromise the integrity of the die-cut image.

STEP 6.
Once you get the strips affixed and trimmed, start adding more detail. I used one of my shaped punches and glue dots to add more dimension to the card. It looks so "Shamrocky" this would have been perfect for St. Patty's Day greetings!

STEP 7.
Finishing up, I added a slender belly band along with another floral embellishment. I thought the paper band would "hug" the pointed edges more cleanly than ribbon. I then added a little italic wording with the silver metallic calligraphy pen and boom, its ready to pop in the mail with maybe some personalization on the backside!
