Fall

Hi crafters! Today is my first official post as a CutCardStock design team member and I am so pleased to be apart of this amazing team!  Today the Product Focus is Brown.  

When I think of brown I think Fall, Thanksgiving or the leaves falling on the ground.  So for my first project I have created a Fall Wall plaque to showcase our Pop Tone Hot Fudge 65lb Card Stock  and Stardream Metallic Flame (orange) papers.  For me, when I create altered art type products I really look to have a solid sturdy card stock.  Using thinner papers tend to crumble and not hold up as well.  The Hot Fudge paper which weighs 65lbs is absolutely amazing to work with.  You don't have to worry about it ripping or anything and what was nice is the fact that I tend to use a lot of recycled items and in doing this the surfaces sometimes are not as smooth.  Due to the fact that some of the items are not new.  So for me paper quality makes a big difference.  So when I cover over the surfaces it still comes out nice and smooth because the paper is so nice and think, Now to adhere it all together I used our Glue Dots Mini Dot n Go Adhesive .

1. I took my plaque and covered it with the Hot Fudge card stock 

 I chose a die from Spellbinders to use as a mat piece for the plaque.  Then I used a sticker sheet from SRM stickers to create the sentiment on my plaque.  The metallic finish of this paper comes out so stunning and because the paper has such a nice thickness it popped right out of the die with ease.  A huge plus for me for sure!

Now everyone knows me for my love of making handmade flowers but I am really picky about the paper I use.  The paper needs to be of high quality for my flowers to really last and withstand me spraying it with water when I go to mold it.  Several papers I have used previously tend to buckle when sprayed but the CutCardStock papers work beautifully and hold up so extremely well.  So for my flowers I decided to use a retro flower punch with my Hot Fudge card stock.  You punch your flowers then cut a tiny slit between each petal as shown in the 2nd photo

Now take some tweezersas shown in photo 3 and hold each petal and just twist it.  Once this is done it looks like photo 4 and now all you do is layer each flower by staggering each piece.  I created a total of 4 flowers to put 2 on each side of the plaque.
