Simple Watercolor Valentine Card and Envelope

Hi again!  Annie here with a quick and simple Valentine's Day card and matching envelope made using Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock.  With a pre-cut card panel perfectly sized for an A7 envelope, this easy valentine is ideal for mass production or last-minute card-making.

Start by wetting your Savoy 100% Cotton A7 Flat Card with clean water in the rough shape of what you would like your final watercolor background to look like.  Then apply color from the Gansai Tambi Watercolor Paint Set to the wet area with a large brush in a dabbing motion, allowing the colors to mix slightly.  Here I'm using Dark Pink (No. 34), Purple (No. 139), and Pale Aqua (No. 50) to create my background.

Once dry, stamp a bold sentiment on top of the watercolor background using a crisp black ink.

Trim the card down to 4.75" x 6.75" to fit onto a 5" x 7" mat made of Basis Black Cardstock (this also allows you to adjust your focal point if your stamping is slightly off-center).

Embellish your card with sequins, rhinestones, or enamel dots.

Create a second watercolor wash background using the same paint colors on another panel of Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock.

Die-cut the distressed heart shape from an area of the wash where your colors overlap the best.  Cut the same heart shape from Basis Black Cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment with a crisp black ink on your envelope flap slightly off-center to allow room for the die-cut heart.  Here I'm using a Curious Metallic A7 Envelope in Cryogen White (a smooth white envelope with a beautiful shimmer finish).

Adhere the watercolor heart to the Basis Black Cardstock heart with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Shift the top layer up and to the left slightly while gluing to reveal the black layer as a shadow.  Glue the heart to the center of your envelope flap.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and simple Valentine's Day card and envelope set and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that A7 envelopes are on sale this month!
