Valentine's Day Gift Card Wallet

Hi there!  Annie back today with a unique way to deliver gift cards, money, or mini valentines using A7 envelopes.  This cute gift wallet is an amped-up version of a project my mom first taught me as a child...but with so many pretty sheets of cardstock and patterned paper as an adult, now I can really make it look nice!

Let's start with the materials.  I chose the Cougar A7 envelope in Natural as my base and Stardream Metallic Cardstock in Bronze and Opal to create my layering pieces.  For coloring stamped images with alcohol markers, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White is always a great choice.

Start by scoring and folding your envelope in half as shown.  Cut the flap off of the right half of your envelope with scissors and then lick and seal the left half of the flap down.

Stamp your image onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, color it with alcohol markers, and cut it out.  I like to use brown ink for my stamping instead of black when I'm working with ivory or cream cardstock.  Stamp a sentiment onto the inside of the envelope wallet with the same ink.

Cut four panels of Bronze Stardream Metallic cardstock to 5" by 3 3/8" and three panels of patterned paper to 4 3/4" by 3 1/8".  Die-cut an oval to fit your stamped image from Opal Stardream Metallic cardstock.

Layer each of your patterned paper panels onto the Bronze Stardream Metallic cardstock panels.

To the back of the envelope wallet (the side without the flap) adhere coordinating ribbon across the center using tape runner.  Make sure that the ribbon is long enough to span the entire length of the envelope plus a little more to tie a small bow (my ribbon was around 16" to start and trimmed down later after I had tied my bow).

Now adhere one of your matted panels to each side of the envelope on top of the ribbon using tape runner or liquid adhesive.  Remember that the right side will be the front of your wallet if you are using different patterns like I am here.

Adhere the final matted panel to the inside of your wallet.  You can use your last cut piece of bronze cardstock to either make a miniature card or to attach a gift card to.  Slide this panel into the small pocket of your wallet.

Embellish the front of the wallet with your colored image.  Here I have adhered the oval to the front with tape runner and then popped the monkey image up on top with foam tabs.

Tie a bow in your ribbon to keep the wallet shut until your deliver your card or gift to its recipient.

I hope you enjoyed this fun, unique way to package a gift card and thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that A7 envelopes are on sale this month!

  3. For a man, Wallets are not just for carrying around some cash and cards. It’s a snapshot of a man’s live. Along with cash and cards, a man carries a picture of his loved one and children. For any active men, the wallet is something that is necessary.
That’s why a Wallet is a Great Valentine Gift for Men!
