Sparkling Paper Poinsettias

Do you love to make fancy shaped flowers, but don't like the time it takes to color them? I also like to color the back sides of the flower petals and leaves. I have found that by starting with a colored cardstock I can save some time.

Here I created deep red poinsettias by starting with Pop-Tone Cardstock in Wild Cherry and Gumdrop Green.

I started by using my MISTI to stamp the Heartfelt Creations Sparkling Poinsettias and Leaves on the Pop-Tones Cardstock. The 65 lb weight of the paper is perfect for the flowers. Then I die cut them using the coordinating dies.

I inked the edges of the petals with Fired Brick and the leaves with Pine Needle Distress Inks. Then using a stylus or flower shaping tool and soft mat, I shaped the flowers and leaves.

Then I layered the flowers with various sizes of petals and added gold seed beads for the stamens.

Last I added glitter to the flowers and leaves.

I also created a lantern with Curious Metallic Galvanised Cardstock from the Heartfelt Creations Gift of Love Box Die set. I used Translucent Vellum Cardstock for the window panels. I also cut a hole in the bottom to be able to use a battery tealight. I added a circle of chipboard covered in foil to glue the flowers to. I used a hot glue gun for attaching the flowers to the lantern.

Here it is finished...

and all lit up.

This will make a great table decoration or could even be a hostess gift.

Check out all the Pop-Tone Cardstock at CutCardStock.com (by the way red, green and white papers are on sale).

Thanks for taking the time to stop on by,
Lisa
