You Are So Loved: Ink Blending on Pop-Tones

Happy hump day to you! How do you find inspiration for your projects? I’ve been looking at clothing trends lately to find inspiration for my cards.

Today’s design came from a dress I spotted on Amazon. It was a half black, half white sheath dress with an aqua design separating the colors. I didn’t want to copy exactly, so I made my own interpretation… with extra sequins, of course!

To make the card front, I stamped my design with Hero Arts Mid-Tone Shadow Ink in Tide Pool on a piece of Pop-Tones cardstock in Sweet Tooth. Then, stamped over it again with Versamark Ink. I used a clear detail embossing powder the emboss the design since I was going to do a resist technique to make the aqua color pop.

Next, I blended in some Versafine CLAIR Ink in Nocturne from the embossed side, creating a rounded area for the sentiment; I also dabbed ink around the edges.

Once I had the blend as black as I wanted, I used an old rag to wipe off the excess from the embossed design. Then, I stamped the sentiment (Beautiful Flowers, Simon Says Stamp) and colored in the word “loved” with a Copic BG11 Sketch Marker. It matched the Tide Pool Ink almost perfectly!

And last but certainly not least, I added a little sparkle with glitter spritz from Tsukineko and a few flat sequins, and attached it to a card base.

Don’t forget that the Pop-Tones cardstock is on special until the end of the month, so you have a few more days to stock up on some cardstock that is fabulous for ink blending! Have a great day!
