Tri-Fold Nativity Card

It’s crunch time for Christmas! Do you have anything left to do? I needed one more card to finish my stack for this year to get them in the mail for tomorrow. I had this cute stamp and die set called Nativity from Art Impressions in my stash, and I thought it would be the perfect thing to relax and color as a grand finale to my holiday card projects.

For the card bases (yes, there’s two!), I chose Classic Crest 110lb. To make this stamp set work, I needed a tri-fold card. I cut two A2 cards from a sheet of the Classic Crest and stamped the images as shown on the package with Memento Ink (I have never made a card with a stamp set like this one, so I had to follow the instructions). A MISTI really came in handy to help with alignment!

I’ll overlap them like this when I’m done, with one card adhered inside the other:

But, before I started coloring, I ran each card base through my Big Shot machine with the dies that were enclosed in the stamp set to make the little windows through each layer.

Classic Crest is an excellent cardstock to use with Copic Markers, or any other alcohol-based markers, for that matter. It allows the ink to blend so well. I didn’t do a lot of fancy blending on this card since the stamped image was kinda sketch-like in style. In fact, I used the front of the stamp package as my guide.

I colored in the animals and the baby Jesus smoothly then left the background and stable streaky for contrast.

Here is the Copic color list:

• Donkey - C1, C3, C4, C6
• Sheep - C1, C3, C4
• Groundcover - E52, E57
• Star - Y21
• Straw - Y21, Y26, E33
• Sky - BV02
• Stable & Fence - E23, E25, E29
• Baby Jesus - E000, E00, BV02

Once everything was done, I attached the card with the sheep inside the card with the stable with Scor-Tape so when the card is closed, you can peer in through the stable and see Baby Jesus. The sentiment inside reads, “O come let us adore him.”
