Bunnies & Chicks. . .

Oh, spring!  Its that time of year when my favorite sweet treats show up on store shelves... shaped like bunnies and chicks.... Peeps!   Yes, I know they're just sugar covered marshmallows.. but they are still a favorite from my childhood.

This fun card uses a new stamp set by Close to My Heart called "My Peeps."

First, I cut a piece of 12x12 Basis Olive cardstock to 6 x 12 and folded to make a 6x6 card base.  Next, I cut layers of cardstock for the front.  Measurements are:  5 x5  Bloom by Curious Metallic,  4 1/2 x 4 1/2 Violette by Curious Metallic and 4 x4 Cryogen White by Curious Metallic.  Curious Metallic cardstock is on sale this month - I love the thick cardstock and sparkly shimmer of these cardstocks!

Next, I added some texture to the card base by stamping "happy Easter to my peeps" on the card front using Close to My Heart's Olive Ink.  It really makes a nice tone on tone look. The only two rows that are fully seen are the top and bottom rows, so partial stamping on the rest of the card front is ok.

I adhered the layers of Bloom and Violette to the card front using 3D foam tape.  Then, I stamped the egg row several times on a scrap of Cryogen White.  After coloring with Copic Markers, I cut out the images.  I also cut three bunnies from the colored cardstock.  I used my embossing gun to heat set my Memento Tuxedo Black ink so it would not smear.   I cut out the bunnies and then was ready for final assembly.

First, I stamped  "happy Easter to my peeps" at the top of the Cryogen White square using Tuxedo Black ink.  Then, I added 3D foam tape to both rows of eggs.  I used the egg rows as a guide to place the bunnies on the card front.  Then, I adhered each egg row to the front of the card.

To finish the card, I used The Twinery's lilac twine to add another twist of purple.

These sweet bunnies shimmer thanks to the Curious Metallic papers - they look almost good enough to eat!
