Summer Kickoff Series - Guest Designer Lisa

Hello, woo hoo!!!! I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a guest designer here today! My name is Lisa and I have a little blog called Lisa's Creative Niche.

With summer on it's way I always start thinking of grilling out and entertaining, so I have created a "Summer Bash" for you today. I had been given lots of wonderful products including a pack of origami paper. I have never really worked with origami paper, but I wanted to do something fun, simple, and creative with it. Plus the design and colors of it just screamed summer fun to me.

Let's start with the fun and simple "Summer Fun" Frame... I trimmed the various colors of origami into strips and adhered them to kraft ,"Brown Bag", cardstock. I then added Thickers for the words and some V's Sweet Ideas Glitter Enamel Dots. Throw it in a frame and there you have it!

Now don't forget to label your beverages and edibles! I trimmed some Curious Metallic Ice Silver cardstock for my bases. Added the origami paper, and with my label maker these cuties were done...

I wanted to create a fun banner of sorts, and instead opted for a paper chain. I'm sure everyone remember creating these in school, but why can't you have fun with them as an adult? In fact ask the kids to help with this project!

And finally what is a party without some desert?! Not a party if you ask me! I wanted to dress my deserts up a bit and keeping with my theme I busted out the origami paper again and created these cute "firework" toppers... I've even created a step by step on how to make these for your next dessert/party.

Step 1: trim the origami paper in half, then cut "fringes" up one side as shown in the picture. Make sure to leave about a 1/2" of paper for rolling.

Step 2: adhere doublesided tape to a lollipop stick.

Step 3: adhere to one end of the origami (with the pattern facing inside) and roll tightly. Use doublesided tape to keep it rolled up.

Step 4: Begin "curling" each strip with a pencil, working your way around.

Step 5: Place in desert and enjoy!

I hope you have been inspired to look at origami paper in a new light. Not only is it fun to work with, but it only took one pack to make everything shown ( and I still have extra, score!) !!! Plus, who knew there were so many designs? Make sure you keep checking in at CutCardStock.com's Blog for more inspiring ideas with their "Summer Kick Off Series". Thank you again to Amber and the CutCardStock.com team for having me, and letting me work with some of your delicious papers!
Happy Crafting! Lisa
