Holiday Countdown Series, Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the Holiday Countdown series for 2016!  I hope you're enjoying these quick and simple project ideas perfect for last-minute holiday crafting.

Today I'm sharing this easy monogram ornament that can also double as a gift tag.  My mom gave me a similar one for Christmas a few years back, so I wanted to create my own version for her this year.  Though only made of paper, this ornament owes it elegance to the gorgeous shimmery Stardream Metallic Cardstocks and tons of dimension.

Start by die-cutting a doily shape (approximately 4") and a 2.75" circle out of Stardream Metallic Quartz Cardstock.  Then, cut the same size circle and holly berries out of Stardream Metallic Mars Cardstock and holly leaves out of Stardream Metallic Emerald Cardstock.  Score the doily shape as shown in this tutorial to add texture and dimension.

Die-cut the recipient's initial from the center of the Quartz circle, set the letter aside, and then emboss a wintry pattern into the die-cut circle.  Here I've used a snowflake embossing folder, but holly or even polka dots would work as well.

To assemble, first adhere the Quartz circle directly over top the Mars circle using foam tabs, then press them onto the scored doily using foam tabs again.  Offset the letter over its die-cut "hole" and adhere with more foam tabs.  Adhere holly embellishments with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and string gold cording or twine through the border of the doily backer to hang.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and simple monogram ornament project and thanks for stopping by today!  You can visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that Stardream Metallic Cardstocks are on sale this month!
