It's all about Organization

It's back to school for most families which means trying to stay organized. A planner is a great way to  stay organized. I have been working on personalizing my planner. The tabbed pages are were from a  previous year and are on a thin paper.

I have a few months that needed to be finished. For these two I choose to create a divider with a pocket.

I started with a sheet of Curious Metallic Cryogen 8.5" x 11" cardstock.

I scored the paper at 5.5" on the 11" side. I made a mark at 4" from the bottom on the score line. I also marked 2" on the right edge. I connected these marks to make the pocket. I cut on the diagonal line and the from the 4" mark up to the top of the page.

This is what it will look like. You can make the pocket on the front or the back. I choose to make the pocket on the  front.

Now to add some color with the newest colors of Distress Oxides.

I applied the ink to my craft mat and spritzed it with water to make color droplets.

Then I swiped my divider pocket through the color and used a heat tool to dry it between each layer. I repeated the process until I had the look I wanted.  I did both sides. It reminds me of a tie dyed Easter egg.

I folded the pocket over and glued the bottom of the pocket. (I don't want to lose anything important.)

Then I added die cut letters and a file tab with the month. On the back I added a line for each day of the month. My plan is to make this a perpetual birthday calendar. I used my special punch to punch the edge, so that it is ready to go in my planner.

I created a similar divider for March using just the Distress Oxides with a green hue. I also drew on a few shamrocks.

I love how the shimmer from the paper shows through, no need to add any mica powder.

Here are March and April are in my planner.

Now I just need to finish November and December.
