Graduation Cap Treat Boxes

Having a graduation party soon and looking for some quick favors to make?  These graduation cap treat boxes are super easy to assemble and a cute way to say thank you to a guest or to congratulate a recent grad.

Start by die-cutting the box topper shape from some Basis CardstockBasis Cardstock is perfect for this project because it's nice and thick and comes in tons of typical school colors (I chose black, blue, and burgundy for my favors here).

Trim off the corners of the box topper with scissors as shown and then punch a hole in the center with a hole punch.

Fold the die cut on its score lines and adhere the tabs in place with liquid glue.  Then create small tassels using a fork and some string (a simple internet search will yield tutorials for this if needed).  Attach them through the hole in the cap with a brad that matches the color of your cardstock.

Tip: Color white brads with alcohol-based markers to get a perfectly matched button.

Die cut the graduation year using numbers dies from the same black, blue, and burgundy cardstock.  Assemble the clear treat boxes and adhere the numbers vertically using a strong liquid glue like Multi Medium Matte.

Fill the treat boxes with candy or money (I found that four rolled bills fit perfectly, so determine your gift from there) and slip the cap on top.  You can use a glue dot to hold the cap on the box if needed.

Mass production of these favors for a graduation party is super easy...if you're really short on time, you can purchase mini tassels to speed the whole process up.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy graduation favor idea and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the products showcased today and if you liked this project, please leave a comment below!
