Guest Designer: Becky's Pumpkin Wall Hanging

We are so pleased to share a special project with you today from Becky, the 1st place winner from our recent "Falling for CutCardStock" Challenge!

Hello there! My name is Becky and I am thrilled to be the October guest designer for CutCardStock! I received a box filled with some amazing products and was excited to get to work!

I began scrapbooking about 10 years ago. When I'm not up to my elbows in glue and paper, I enjoy my job as a school teacher (although sometimes I'm up to my elbows in glue and paper there, too!).
For my Tricks and Treats project, I decided to make a pumpkin wall hanging. I've seen pumpkin paper piecings around the web and wanted to give it a try. I started with this frame that my good friend found at a thrift store. It's a pretty frame, but not exactly right for my project.
I spray painted the frame with black matte paint and voila! Instantly spooky!
To begin making my pumpkins, I cut ovals using the Stardream Metallic paper in Flame. I am in love with this metallic paper. The quality of it is superior to any other I have worked with. Once I cut my ovals, I played with formations until I was happy with 2. For one pumpkin I folded the ovals in half and glued them together. For the other, I simply layered them and popped the middle oval up.
For the background I used paper from We R Memory Keepers. It still wasn't quite finished so I punched a doily from a sheet of the Flavours Gourmet in Black Truffle. Then I glued it all down and added it to my frame. I love that the pumpkins have a faint shimmer to them.
Thanks again to CutCardStock for asking me to be a guest designer this month!

XOXO,
Becky
