Take Note, Teacher!

If the kiddos aren't already back in school, then they must be in their final days of summer like mine.  With just a few vacation, sun soaking, video game playing days left, I thought I'd whip up a little note book to pass along to the teacher on the first day.
With the combination of kraft chipboard for the notebook backing and the amazing Gmund Savanna woodgrain card stock for the front, this little notebook is quite sturdy!  Using one of my ol' favorite dies from Stampin' Up!, I cut the backing, front and a stack of grid paper for the inside.
For the front detail, I cut a stripe of my patterned paper and a slightly wider stripe of 140# Muscletone kraft card stock.  I adhered them together with the Mono multi glue and then die cut the strip so it would fit perfectly on to the front of the my notebook.

I used a bit of washi tape to hold my stripe exactly where I wanted it cut.  I was worried it would shift as it made way through the Big Shot... the washi tape worked like a champ!
I added a die cut apple embellishment I had left over from another project.  Then I added some sticker letters to the front as well.

One of the best tips I ever received was to use a clear ruler when aligning letters and stickers.  Just put a little pressure on the stickers so they stay on the ruler; then you can make sure everything is lined up how you want it before that stick of commitment!
I lined up all my notebook parts, and with my super-duper Crop-a-Dile punch, I punched a hole through the entire notebook with one squeeze.  I finished it off with a piece of polka dot ribbon to keep things together!
