Birthday Box with Jamie Cripps

Good Morning!  Jamie back today sharing a fun little box made from Brown Bag Kraft Card Stock, Teal Basis Cardstock, and Dark Purple Basis Card Stock!  This box is perfect for small gifts or even as party favors and school treats and those Basis Card Stocks really pop behind the Brown Bag Kraft Card Stock!

Here's the tutorial:
1.  Cut out all the pieces for the boxes and fold on the score lines.
2.  Layer the candle mats together.
3.  Adhere the candle mats inside the main box, lining up the candles.
4.  This image shows the front of the box with the mats in place.
5.  Place adhesive on the three tabs along the bottom of the box and the long side tab.  Adhere the box tab to the box side as shown.
6.  Bring the long tab up and adhere it to the other tab as shown.
7.  Adhere the side together to complete the box.  Press on all the tabs to ensure the pieces are pushed down well.
8.  Your box should look similar to this now!
9.  Next grab the secondary box and place adhesive on the long side tab only.  Adhere it to the other side of the box.
10. Insert the secondary box with the open side going into the box base as shown.
11. Push the secondary box all the way down.  You may have to wiggle it in a bit to get pass the main box tabs.
12. Fill your box with goodies and close the lid.  Embellish as desired!

Birthday Cards Made Easy

Hi CutCardStock Fans!  Christine joining you today to share a couple of quick (yes, really) birthday cards!
First up we have one that utilizes washi tape!  To form your chevrons you will want to do the following:
1) Line up the washi tape diagonally with a top corner and go down diagonally
2) Repeat on the opposite side so that the two tapes meet
3) Trim so that they have space (lightly using a craft knife works really well) or leave no space.
4) Then do two additional chevrons below that and one above.
Embellish with a lot of a little!  I have used several supplies on this one - but I have also stopped at just words!
This one is even easier!  I simply used a die cut for my "Happy Birthday" words but before attaching it to my card base, I added some doilies underneath.  It adds some texture and makes it more interesting than just a die cut!  Once again, you could add a lot to it, or you could go simple as I did with just a few additional embellishments to bring in some color!

Birthday Cards for Towanda's

Evelyn Couch: Towanda! Righter of Wrongs, Queen Beyond Compare!
Ninny Threadgoode: How many of them hormones you takin', honey?
   - Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)

Hey chickie ladies! It's Linda McClain again. We're celebrating birthdays this month at CutCardStock.com, and this time I'm celebrating the birthdays of us Towanda's - those of us who are allegedly past our prime. We may not be younger and faster, but we have better insurance!

That's a reference from the 1991 movie Fried Green Tomatoes, one of my favorite movies of all time. It's about friends, best friends. If you haven't met Towanda, Idgie, Sipsie and sweet Ruth, stop what you're doing right now! Well, okay, read this post first . . . then go get you that movie!

I used a Chicken Wire die as a cover for this card. The Chicken Wire die I used is 4″ wide by 5-1/4″ long.

  • I cut a piece of Brown Bag Kraft cardstock 4″ wide by 5-3/8″.
  • I scored and folded t at 5-1/4″ so there was just a 1/8″ overhang.

  • I attached the Chicken Wire die cut piece to this small 1/8″ overhang and then embellished it.

The inside of the card is very simple, but it's just fun how it peaks through the chicken wires of the front.

Here are the supplies I used from CutCardStock.com. I'll be seeing you over at Catered Crop. Towanda!

Back from CHA!

I had the awesome opportunity this past weekend to attend the Craft and Hobby Association MEGA Show in California with Cindy, the owner of CutCardStock.  This was my first visit to CHA, and I have to say I've never been so overwhelmed and inspired at the same time!  The convention center was filled to brim with new products, demonstrations, make-n-takes and I was a bit star-struck seeing several famous crafters and designers.

While at the show, I stopped by to say "Hi" to the folks at Glue Dots.  We will be seeing some new styles of glue dots at CutCardStock.com very soon!  Here's a picture of the little make and take from their booth.  I thought it was a perfect addition to our theme on the blog this month.... wouldn't this be darling for a birthday party?

It would be great to make from any of the Pop Tones cardstocks.... the color possibilities are endless!

Speaking of star struck.... I didn't get a chance to meet him, but I got a quick glimpse of Tim Holtz demonstrating some techniques at his booth.

And don't forget.... now is your chance to show off some of your work to be considered for the new CutCardStock Design Team!  I am here to tell you that being a part of this talented group is a great experience, and having so many great products to work with makes it so much fun.  Wouldn't you LOVE to join us?

Ahoy Matey

Ahoy me Hearties. It's your mate, Linda McClain again.

Grab a deck chair. We're celebrating birthdays this month at CutCardStock, and I couldn't resist wishing wonderful adventures on the high seas to a little birthday boy.

Multi-layered, paper pieced cards are one of my favorite cards to make. I also like to go a little crazy with patterns. Thank goodness this Brown Bag kraft adds a nice warm, neutral canvas for all my craziness.

I'm nuts about this Brown Bag Kraft collection. It's one of my favorite discoveries at CutCardStock.com. I made a berry basket with it here, Frosted Pumpkins; and a coordinated gift set here, Hoop Art. It's just so fun to play with.

So, in addition to using the Brown Bag Kraft A2 folded note cards as the base for my card, I had fun decorating and lining an envelope I made with the We R Memories Envelope punch from the 8-1/2 by 11 Brown Bag Kraft card stock.

But, you don't have to make your own envelopes. The Brown Bag Kraft collection also includes some adorable envelopes - which are on sale!

Here are the bounties of treasures I used to make my card. I'll see you soon with more birthday goodies. Meanwhile, come visit me at Catered Crop - you never know what this old sea dog is up to.
