Watercolor with dye inks

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Amber here, and I'm sharing a card I made using dye inks as watercolors. I have been so inspired with all the watercolor trends, and you may remember the comparison post I did using watercolors on different types of white cardstock. Today I wanted to see how some of my dye inks handled as watercolors on Savoy cotton cardstock.

I gathered all my supplies and first stamped the images I wanted to watercolor, and embossed them with white embossing powder.

Then, I smeared a bit of my inks on to my work surface and added some color to my flower and leaf images using the handy watercolor brush.

As they were drying, I stamped my sentiment on the same Savoy cotton cardstock using Versafine Onyx black ink. I trimmed it out and snipped in some ribbon ends.

There are coordinating dies for this stamp set, so I cut out my images. I held the dies in place with just a bit of washi tape.

Then it was time to assemble my card. On a card base of Basis Light Yellow, I added a decorative tag from my stash and adhered on my flowers, leaves and sentiment. I used glue dots to adhere the pieces I wanted flat on the tag, and then used 3D Foam Tabs for the flower I wanted to add some dimension to. The Mono Multi helped my secure the tag to the card front.

Thanks for joining me today! I'd love to hear any tips you have to share for water coloring or card making in general... please leave a comment.

Ombre Birthday Card

Happy Tuesday everyone! This is Alexia here and I'm going to share a card with you today. Tomorrow is one my son classmates' birthday (she is turning 5) and I made this card for her. It's not too carton-ish because I'm not used to making cards for kids. I hope she will like it.  Before I start I would like to share with you that CutCardStock is having sale on the Metallic card stocks this week (I used it on my today's project too), check it out!

Now, here is the card that I'm talking about:

To make this card, I first stenciled the card background on CutCardStock's Classic Crest solar white card stock in an ombre pattern, at the same time I masked out the area where I want to keep the sentiment. I also stenciled the two yellow bars to bring the focus to the center of the card. Next will be stamping the present images and coloring them with alcohol ink markers.

To create a matching envelope, I stamped the same present images on a CutCardStock's A2 white envelope. I actually also heat embossed the back of the card with my name and email address and I can tell you that this Metallic card stock is perfect for heat embossing. The card stock stays flat during and after embossing, totally worth investing for all who do paper crafting.

Dry Embossed and Ink Sponging with Classic Crest

Hello there! Kristie Larsen here to share with you another fun card for February. I couldn't get love off of my mind, so I created this little number. It doesn't necessarily have to be for Valentine's Day. You can just send a card of love ANY day! Let me show you what I did.

I started with some  Classic Linen Cardstock in Natural. It has this lovely creamy color and a subtle texture. I started by running it through my Cuttlebug with an embossing plate.

Afterward, I took these two different chalk inks and rubbed them over the dry embossing. I chose to do the teal color roughly on the square tiles and put the purple around everywhere else. You can see the finished panel here:

I then die cut my sentiment and washed over it with some different colours that matched my sponged panel. Watercoloring is so much fun!

I die cut 4 of the LOVE sentiments so I could stack them up for added dimension. I only watercolored the one sentiment for the top.

I trimmed my panel down and adhered it to a natural color pre-folded Cougar Invitation. Card making is SO easy when you have prefolded cards on hand. I love it! The store has lots of options for fast card making. Click on the link to check them out. So many colours to choose from! I then added some pearls for a nice finishing touch.

And there you have it! A lovely card using all sorts of fun techniques with some amazing products.

I am SO excited to be staying on for the next DT term for I hope to have some fun creating with these amazing products and sharing with you too. Thanks for stopping by!

A Thank You With Flowers!!

A very happy Wednesday to everyone and a warm welcome to the CCS Blog where, with each posting, you will find ways to use the multitude of products from the CutCardStock shop. I trust that your weather is much better than ours. On Tuesday we had at least a couple of inches of solid ice and the entire town was shut down and today we are supposed to have a bit of snow to top off this power and internet service has been a a bit sketchy for the past couple of days. I am so sorry that so many of you are experiencing much more severe weather than I am--that keeps me from complaining too much!!

Today is my last scheduled posting here and I would like the thank the CutCardStock shop for allowing me to use the CCS products for the past six months, Cindy Crots, Owner of the Company, and Amber Lawrence, DT Coordinator.. I would especially like to thank my many followers and friends who have supported me in such a sweet and kind way during my time on this Design Team. You all have just been so wonderful to visit and follow this blog, to comment on my postings, and to evaluate my tutorials on each posting!! Big hugs and many thanks to each of you!!

It is certainly appropriate that for my project today I have made a THANK YOU card for all of you!! I have used some of my favorite cardstocks: the white is Curious Metallic Ice Gold and the green is Stardream Metallic Emerald. All of the Metallic Papers are now on sale at 15% off with the use of Coupon Code: Shimmer. There are so many gorgeous colors available in these collections so check them out!

For the flowers I used Magnolia layered flowers and to add more interest and dimension, I have used a wee technique which I think adds so much to many of our punched, die cut, or hand cut flowers. I have merely burnished the backs of the petals using small circles using a ball stylus and on the front just a press of the ball in the center of each flower. Below you will see what difference this step can make. On the left side are the flat flowers and leaves and on the right side are the flowers and leaves after burnishing.

You can see what tools I have used but you could do the same technique with any small rounded implement (handle of a knife, round end of a pen or marker, etc). For the leaves I used one press with a narrow tool on the back. Just remember to start with small circles and you will be an expert in no time. Following is a side view which will hopefully show the dimensional difference.

To finish my card I added a sweet sentiment, a silk bow, and a few pearls.

Again, thank you so much for dropping by and I hope this little hint will make your flowers pop off the page!! See you all in blogland.....Big hugs from Jacque!
