Hello there! It's Kristie Larsen here and I'm sharing with you one of my favorite projects that I do almost every year. An Advent Calendar! I love making Advent calendars so much. It looks intensive, I know, but it is a really easy feat with CutCardStock.com!
I started with two different shades of green. Both by Basis and both beautiful. I die cut twelve of each colour making 24 boxes in all.
I put the sides together using glue dots and the flaps together using Score-tape.
I also die cut 24 panels that fold over to make these into cute matchboxes!
Once the flaps were folded I slid them over the already folded box. But before that I hole punched twice on each side. Only a little notch on the end and a hole just in from it. This way the bakers twine will stay put in the groove instead of rolling around. The twine was slid through each hole and tied at the top. I used different lengths to add some interest when I hang them.
I die cut the medallions out of red and folded them and put them together with hot glue.
I made folded and glued twenty four while watching a movie! It was the most relaxing night I had all week ;) The inside snowflake was die cut using the white Teton Deckled Edge paper and there is another white die cut circle glued to the back to keep the medallion together.
I then hot glued the medallion on the outside of each matchbox cover and used Tombow Mono glue for the inside insert.
I have a whole pile of Christmas books we put under the tree for reading throughout the month. So a lot of the days have a book activity and some boxes have Christmas movies to watch. I also put in some crafting and baking activities as well as some scripture reading for the Nativity story. I put little treats in too for my kids to unwrap each day.
I strung some twine up on the wall (held with washi tape) and added each box using a miniature clothes pin which were SO adorable I just had to buy them. They are just as cute being used. They do not disappoint!!
I added some little ornaments in-between boxes for a little bit more interest. I LOVE how it turned out. Nice and sturdy too so I can use it for many more years or even give it away if next year I *need* to make another calendar using amazing CutCardStock.com products! It's just so much fun, I hate to miss out on it ;)
That's it for today! Lots of lovely papers to use for holiday crafting, and your in luck because they are still on sale for another week! Be sure to head to the store to stock up on all your supplies before the holidays really take off without you!
xoxo
