We are in the holiday spirit here on the CutCardStock blog! Amber here with you today, and I wanted to share a tag I made using ink blending. I've seen some amazing backgrounds created using Tim Holtz Distress ink, and I wanted to try them on CutCardStock's Savoy 100% Cotton cardstock.
I used some precut card fronts that are so convenient.... love them! I also grabbed the foil cardstock and picked a few shades of ink to create my starry night background.
I die cut all my pieces - two sizes of stitched rectangles for my tag and the snowflake and sentiment from the foil cardstock. The foil cardstock die cut like butter!
Using my ink blending tool, I swirled on my inks until I had just the look I wanted. To add some interest, I used some water in my paint brush and flicked the splashes in my inked up cardstock. When that was dry, I smeared some white ink, watered it down a bit and repeated the splatter technique. I love how it turned out!
I stamped the "Christmas" part of my sentiment with Versamark ink, and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.
Then, I simply put all the pieces together. I glued them on to the tag using my Mono Multi glue and tweezers. I layered everything on to the second, larger tag. After punching a hole, I added a bit of white satin ribbon and some silver string from my stash.
What I love about making tags is that I can add them to a gift wrapped simply with regular wrapping paper and suddenly it looks like I did something extra special!
