Father's Day Pillow Box

Every year around Father's Day, my dad tells me not to get him anything.  I've never listened to him, but in an attempt to honor his wishes, I try not to go overboard.  I get him something small that lets him know I'm thinking about him and concentrate my efforts on pretty (yet manly) packaging instead.  This little pillow box is easy to make and can be filled with a handful of dad's favorite treats.

Start by die-cutting the pillow box from Basis Blue Cardstock.  If you do not have a die like this, you can also use an electronic cutting machine, pillow box punchboard, or a printable template from the internet.

Stamp a pattern on both pillow box die-cuts with Versamark ink or Perfect Medium.  I chose a constellation pattern as a backdrop for my globe-shaped tag.

Apply Perfect Pearls to the ink using a soft, fluffy brush and wipe away any excess.  I chose Biscotti pearl pigment powder because it was a nice happy medium between gold and silver...ideal for stars!

Assemble your pillow box by adhering the seams with a strong liquid glue like Tombow Mono Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.

Die-cut the globe shape from Aqua Basis Cardstock.  Using sponge daubers, color the land masses and edges with green and brown ink, respectively.

Stamp a sentiment on a strip of White Basis Cardstock in deep black ink.  Trim both ends with scissors to form flag ends.

Adhere the sentiment to the globe die-cut with foam adhesive, strategically placing the squares so that they'll remain invisible from both the front and the back.  Feed natural twine through the hole in the top of the globe to form a tag.

Fill the box with goodies for dad, tie a bow around it to hold it shut, and attach the tag to the ribbon by its twine.  Watch his face light up when he sees your beautiful (yet manly) present!

I hope you enjoyed this easy Father's Day gift idea and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that Basis Cardstock is on sale this month!
