Have you ever made a pop-up card or book? I generally make simple pops, but recently bought a Cricut cartridge that features pop-up cards, so thought it would be fun to give it a try with some of the beautiful CutCardStock Pop Tones papers.
First, I cut samples of the two main card pieces--in this case, it's a peacock. For the plumage, I'm going to add a monoprint pulled on deli paper behind the feather cut-outs, so I need to make sure the print is big enough to fit behind the Cricut cut.
Here is the the sample cut for the base of the card, I'm using it as a pattern to trace around and cut out the monoprint into the correct shape. I used a glue stick to adhere it to the actual Pop Tones paper base.
Added some stamping to the top cut, sandwiching the monoprint between the two Cricut cut papers.
Look at that fine fellow! What a fun "just because" card, right? And check out all those Pop Tone colors--there's lots of gorgeous greens in that pile, and they're calling my name for next time . . .
Happy Thursday to you!
