Cheers to Any Occasion with Bursts of Gold Stars

Inspired by the season in which many new and exciting things are happening (graduations, weddings, you name it!) I've decided to create a card of congratulations for practically any occasion.

The colors could easily be swapped out for a more "masculine" feel - I was especially in the mood to work with reds, purples, and gold.

First, I started by watercoloring the card front panel. I used a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper and some Tombow dual brush markers in various red, pink, and purple tones. I also used my favorite "ink smooshing" method, this time using a piece of clear acetate to bring to the surface of the paper rather than smashing it down without being able to see what the colors were doing.

To see step by step how I created this effect, definitely be sure to watch the video tutorial below:

While I was doing all of this, I was also cutting out a sentiment and star embellishments from a piece of Super Gold Curious Metallic card stock using my Silhouette Portrait digital die cutting machine.

Once the watercolor panel was finished, I trimmed it to fit a blank Stardream Metallic Ruby A6 card and began assembling the card. I decided the letters and stars would look best with some dimension, so I adhered all the elements with foam adhesive. It was a bit time consuming, but totally worth it!

The letters really pop off the splashes of color really nicely. Using metallic card stock in projects like this really adds a special touch as well.

And don't forget that I've been doing video of all these tutorials on my Youtube as well!
