Happily Ever After

Happy 2019!  Hope your holidays were happy and fun.

In the card making world, the new year means starting our Valentine themed cards.  Didn't we just finish Christmas?  LOL!  I'm excited though because I love any excuse to add hearts to my projects.  For today's project, I'm using an embossing folder filled with hearts to add some great texture and interest to the front of my card.

I started by first embossing a piece of Astrobright cardstock in Re-Entry Red, then die cutting it out with a medium sized heart-shaped die.  I love this cardstock because the color choices are bold and bright.  This red is perfect for Valentine hearts!

I wanted to add a little bird flying toward the big heart, so I used various shades of blue Copics to color in a whimsical bird stamp from Neat and Tangled.  I like how the swirls on the bird kind of mimic heart swirls.

I created a notecard from Cougar Super Smooth 100# cardstock and layered my bird along with multiple hearts onto the embossed heart.   I popped some of the hearts up with foam squares for interest.  I finished the card with a scripty sentiment that went nicely with all the swirls and curls of the bird and hearts.

Be sure to head over to the CutCardstock shopAstrobright card stock is on sale this month.  You can create your own assortment and sample all the fun colors!
