Quick & Easy Background Panels

Today was all about creating some quick cards. I created several backgrounds pretty quickly using a new stamp set without removing it from the acetate. Using different ink colors, I got four different looks from a similar panel.

For the background panel, I used Bright White Classic Crest 80# Cover Card Stock. I like using it for panels because it's sturdier and has a smooth finish. Both features make for easier ink blending. For the card base, I used Curious Metallic Card Stock in Ice Gold. The shimmery card stock adds a touch of elegance.

Here's how I created the panel. I pulled the backing from the new stamp set but didn't remove the stamps. I left them on the acetate in the order they were shipped. I liked the arrangement they were in. 

Before stamping, I ran an anti-static powder tool over the paper because I'm doing some heat embossing next. Then using the MISTI, I stamped the images with Versamark ink on Bright White Classic Crest.

I heat embossed with detailed white powder. I made sure the heat gun was hot by letting it warm up for about 20 seconds before bringing it to the paper. I wanted to melt the powder quickly without burning the white paper.

Next, I did some ink blending. To make it easier, I secured the edges with purple tape. It's a low tack tape so when I remove it the panel doesn't rip as easily. You still need to be careful and pull the tape off at an angle. But, I've had great luck with this tape.

For the ink blending, I used my new brushes from Picket Fence along with Altenew inks. I tried to create an ombre look with the darkest color in the middle and fading out to lighter colors on the edges.  I left a white strip at the top and bottom to create a frame.

Next, I die-cut the word Congrats from the center of the ink blended panel.

I decided to pop-up the word Congrats with an adhesive backed purple foam. I ran the same die-cut through my die-cutting machine with the purple foam. Then added adhesive to the top of it so I could secure it to the other die-cut.

Here's a close-up of the sentiment where you can see the purple foam. I like adding a hint of color like this. 

I created the four panels using the same technique but each in a different color. I ended up creating cards from two of the four panels. The others I'm putting aside to use later for other occasions.

Take a look at your stamp sets and see what ones might work like this. Why remove all the stamps and re-arrange them if they already look great in the packaging? :) This is a large stamp set, so I was able to move the panels around and get different stamped areas too.
