Sparkly Mother's Day Cake Banner

I absolutely love springtime for many reasons; the smell of fresh cut grass, the warm sunshine after a long winter, and all the fun holidays! Random fact about me...I was born on Mother's Day, so it's an extra special holiday! Our moms do so much for us, so how about you give your mom a day of relaxation and add a fun, tasty treat that she doesn't have to make!

If you aren't a baker (like me) just grab a pre-made cake from the grocery store and add some flare to it with a custom banner. The glitter cardstock from cutcardstock.com was the perfect choice for this project since it's sparkly, feminine, and full of color. Here's how to make one!

You will need:
-Gold Glitter cardstock
-Coral Mirrisparkle cardstock
-Pink Lemonade Pop-Tone cardstock
-Tombow Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue
-Double Sided Foam Adhesive Strips

Begin by cutting out your banner shapes. I used my Silhouette CAMEO die cutting machine to cut out the banner shapes from the gold glitter, and then the letters for "Mom" out of the Mirrisparkle cardstock and Pink Lemonade cardstock. I love how these colors compliment each other!

Next, use some Tombow glue and adhere the pink letter on top of the red glitter letter to create a subtle border for dimension.

Add some foam strips to the back of the red glitter letters and then center the letters onto the gold banner piece.

The gold glitter cardstock is so sparkly and feminine!

Now take a small hole punch and punch out two holes on both sides of the banner pieces.

After the holes have been made, thread some thin baker's twine through the holes.

I wanted an extra bit of flare to the banner so I grabbed some gold tissue paper and made a couple of small tassels.

Glue the tassels and the twine onto a skewer, poke it into your delicious chocolate cake and your mom will be so wowed that she won't even notice the cake wasn't homemade :)

Be sure to check out all the other beautiful colors of glitter cardstock and share your creations with us!
