Pumpkin Placecards

Are you planning a Halloween party or family get-together for Thanksgiving? We try to do a little something each year, either a Halloween party or a fancy Thanksgiving, or both!

There are three households close to one another here in San Antonio & Buda. We like to designate a house, and all the families will gather and have a big ol’ shindig. When it’s my turn to host (which doesn’t happen very often, our place is the smallest!), I like to do a little bit of DIY decorating.

Today, I’m going to show you how to put together these cute place cards.

These will be for Thanksgiving, but you can easily spruce them up for Halloween with purple ribbon and some jack-o-lantern faces!

The first thing to do is cut the card bases, and I chose Hot Fudge from Pop Tones as the color. They are 3.75 x 5-inches, scored at the 2.5” mark. Round the corners now, if you like, but it’s important to score them since we will be using it as a guideline for the next part.

Next, line up your pumpkin die (Stitched Pumpkins, Simon Says Stamp) as shown in the photo below. Position the cardstock so when you make your die-cutting sandwich, the top part of the pumpkin in inside the plates and the bottom is hanging off the end.

The scoreline should be aligned right along the edge of where the plate starts to curve. Tape it in place, so it doesn’t move as you’re running it through your machine.

What will happen is your machine will only cut the top portion of the pumpkin, so when you fold over your card again, it pops up. Make as many cards as you need, then get you some Curious Metallic Cardstock in Mandarin and cut out your pumpkins.

For mine, I snipped off the stem on the larger one so the brown stem underneath will show through.

Then, grab a white gel pen and doodle some stitching around the edges.

All we have left to do now is a bit of layering and stamping!

I attached the pumpkins with thin foam squares before I stamped the names (Invisible Alpha, Altenew) so I could use them for alignment and spacing, but you can stamp first if you prefer. I heat embossed the letters with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Pad and Ranger Embossing Powder White Super Fine Detail .60 oz, 3 Pack.

Then, I added a tiny bow to each of the large pumpkin stems. You can tie 'em in place, or use a glue dot to stick on premade bows :)
