I Love You XOXO Card
I'm so honored to be a guest blogger for CutCardStock.com today. I was given so many goodies to play with that I wanted to create something that really showcased the beautiful cardstock I received. I opted not to use any patterned papers or major embellishments on my card, so the cardstock can be the star.I loved the shimmer in the Curious Metallic Sample Pack so I used the Red Laquer and Ice Gold cardstock. I cut eighteen .75 x .75" squares from the Ice Gold. I punched out 9 X's and 9 O's from the Red Laquer using my Martha Stewart hand punch. I ended up using only an inch strip from each piece of cardstock. I adhered the X's and O's onto the squares and adhered two squares back to back with a piece of baker's twine in the middle.
For my card base, I used the Brown Bag Invitation A-7 which I cut into a square. I have to say the Brown Bag papers and matching envelopes were my absolute favorite items! I've never seen anything like them in stores. The weight and feel is very different from regular cardstock. I cut a square window out from the center of the card and strung the baker's twine across the window.
Because the squares are double-sided, the inside of the card also has the tic-tac-toe design. I covered up the ends of the baker's twine by adhering some Ice Gold strips to the inside frame of the card. The little squares can twist and turn and make different combinations, so it is interactive in person, kind of like a Toss Across game. To finish it off, I used some mini Kraft alphabet letters to spell out my matching sentiment. I used Kraft letters on brown bag paper which blended together, so the shimmer in the middle of the card can further stand out.
XOXO,
Michelle
