Fall Divided Tray Makeover

I'm always on the look-out for wood "containers" when I go to thrift stores. Anything like a little box, organizer or or tray like this one (I think it was $2):
Fall Tray Makeover Tutorial

I love to cover them with pretty papers and put them around my house. At CutCardStock, we are taking the month of September to celebrate the beginning of fall and hopefully give you some fun fall papercrafting ideas. Here is my project that can be used for all kinds of home decor ideas...

Instructions
Begin by painting the upper edge of the tray. If it's messy, it's fine. It'll look distressed when finished.

Using Neenah Teton Deckle Edge in Warm White, cover the outer edge of the tray. I used decoupage medium.

Then cover the inside sides with the Warm White.

To cover the divider section, first cut Basis Brown paper to fit into the tray but slightly taller than the handle. Trace around the handle.

Cut out, decoupage and repeat on the other side.
Then cover the bottom inside and ends with fall patterned paper.

Now that the entire piece is covered, it's time to embellish.
I chose some silk flowers. I liked the distressed coloring already on the petals that coordinated with the tray. I popped the petals off the plastic stems, added brads to hold them together and used a glue dot to adhere them to the tray.

Then I added some twine to the handle and ribbon around the outside.

It's basically done. How about a candle for the fall dining table?

Don't forget that for the rest of the month all Neenah 8-1/2x11" Card Stocks are on sale.
See you soon!!!
