Hi there...Annie here today and I'm so excited to share my first project on the CutCardStock blog! I don't know about you, but I am ready for some Fall. I live for the cooler temperatures and brightly colored leaves (even though they arrive a little later where I am in the South than I'd like). So, today I have a quick and easy fall-inspired banner that uses some of the beautiful Esse and Stardream Metallic cardstocks from the CutCardStock store.
I pulled out my Banner Punch Board to make each of the pieces for my banner, but you can just as easily cut them by hand or die-cut them. Although you can use the board to make three different shapes, I only needed flags for my simple banner. I started by cutting my Espresso Brown Esse cardstock to 4in x 6.5in and my patterned paper to 3.5in x 6in.
Next, I cut a banner end on each of my panels using the punch board. Once cut, the patterned paper fit perfectly inside of my brown base with a quarter-inch border all the way around.
I then cut out several leaves, pumpkins, and the letters to spell "Fall" using my Silhouette CAMEO, but you can use dies or punches for this step as well. The large leaves and pumpkins measure around 3.25 inches wide and are cut from Gold and Flame Stardream Metallic cardstock, respectively, while the smaller leaves (about one inch wide) and "Fall" (1.5in tall) are cut from more of the Espresso Brown Esse cardstock.
I inked the edges of my patterned paper and pumpkins with brown ink to give them more of a rustic autumn feel before assembling my banner.
My final flag pieces came together fairly quickly. The patterned paper was adhered directly to the brown base with some tape runner, but my die-cut pieces were added with foam tabs to give the banner lots of dimension.
After stringing my flag pieces onto some thin natural jute rope, my banner was ready for hanging. Here is a detail shot so that you can see how beautiful those metallic cardstocks look up close!
I hope you enjoyed this project and thanks so much for stopping by today! Please visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the products showcased today...and keep in mind that all orange, brown, and gold cardstocks are on sale this month!
