Hand Decorated Wedding Gift Bag

Weddings are the kind of occasion where I really like to personalize a gift...all the way down to the packaging.  Decorating a plain kraft gift bag with a couple's wedding colors or flowers is the perfect way to add a unique touch to that ordinary registry item.

Start by trimming a piece of foiled patterned paper and Silver Bright Foil Cardstock to fit the front of your Brown Bag Shopping Bag.  Since I'm decorating a small gift bag, I cut my foil cardstock to 7" x 9" and my patterned paper to 6.5" x 8.5" to leave a small border around the panel when I adhered it to my bag.

Die-cut enough flower layers and leaves to form three dimensional flowers from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.

Stamp the die-cuts with the coordinating stamps in Versamark ink, add silver embossing powder, and melt it with a heat tool.

Ink the die-cuts right over the silver embossed lines with several colors of dye-based ink.  Here I used pink, purple, and blue inks for the flowers and green for the leaves, inking more heavily in some areas to give the images dimension.

Shape the petals of the flowers and leaves with your fingers or a ball-tipped stylus and adhere the layers together with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I added a small silver glitter enamel dot to the center of each flower with liquid glue as well.

To create the matching tag, die-cut nesting tag shapes from Silver Bright Foil Cardstock and patterned paper and the sentiment from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.  Ink the sentiment with the same pink and purple inks used to color the flowers.

Adhere the patterned paper to the foil cardstock for both the tag and gift bag panel with tape runner.  Add tape runner to the back of the foil cardstock and press onto it the front of the gift bag firmly.

Arrange the flowers and leaves to form a scene on your bag with lots of depth.  Here I've adhered the leaves flat onto the bag with liquid glue first, added the two pink and purple flowers next with one layer of foam tabs, and popped the blue and purple flower up on the corner of the bag last with a double layer of foam tabs.  A simple butterfly die-cut was added with liquid glue for a little more visual interest.

Punch a hole in matching tag and tie it to the handle of the gift bag with silver ribbon.  Add your gift to the bag, nestling it inside with tons of white and silver tissue paper.
