Metallic Floral Valentine

With the temperature still below freezing and snowstorms on the horizon, I thought a bright and floral valentine would be perfect for my loved ones this holiday.  Using the bold colors of Astrobright Cardstock as my canvas, I created a subtle metallic background for this card that I thought resembled gorgeous Japanese silk fabric.

Start by trimming a piece of Terrestrial Teal Cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5", a piece of Violette Curious Metallic Cardstock to 4.5" x 5.75", and a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock (110 lb) to 6" x 9.5".  Score the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock down the middle to form a 4.75" x 6" cardbase.

Stamp a floral image over the Terrestrial Teal panel repeatedly in Versamark ink to fill the majority of the space, add white embossing powder, and melt it with a heat tool.

Color the images in with metallic colored pencils, using two to three different shades of purple and pink for the flowers and green and gold for the leaves to achieve a shimmery background with tons of depth.  (Regular colored pencils can be used here as well, but the metallic pencils really give the images a silken feel.)

Begin to assemble the card with tape runner by first adding the purple mat to the colored background, and then adhering both to the folded white cardbase.

Die-cut a sentiment out of both Stardust White Cardstock and Violette Curious Metallic Cardstock.  (Stardust White cardstock has flecks of color in it that coordinate perfectly with the rest of the card!)

Adhere the Stardust White layer on top of the Violette layer with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and offset it slightly to form a shadow.

Add the sentiment to the center of the cardbase with liquid glue and brighten your beloved's Valentine's Day with this bold floral card!

I hope you enjoyed this easy Valentine's Day card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock Store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that Astrobright Cardstocks are on sale this month!
