Friendship Cards

It is finally getting warmer on some days around here, and I have been seeing lots of floral cards on social media. I love flowers, particularly coloring them. Today, I will be sharing two cards that incorporate some of my favorite techniques.

I started by stamping some of these gorgeous daisies on watercolor cardstock and colored them with my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. I like doing loose watercoloring techniques and then finishing it off with black and white paint splatters for a unique effect. Once they dried, I fussy cut them and set them aside. I die-cut the sentiment 'happiness' from black cardstock and the outline die with Silk Glitter Kings Crown Gold Cardstock. The other sentiment was stamped with VersaMark and heat-embossed with white embossing powder.

I added some pen detail on the centers of the daisies. I used gold, black and white gel pens. I seem to adore this combination when working on my watercolor cards! I arranged everything over a white cardbase that I had added black splatters to. I use foam tape for dimension.

How gorgeous are all the details? I love that gold glitter. It gives it just the right pop with the brightly colored flowers.

For my next card, I decided to do something more basic. This is a really fun technique I picked up from other crafters who like to do one-layer cardmaking.

I started by stamping images from a stamp set onto Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. I colored with Copic markers and added dots with a dark gray marker. I die-cut the sentiment from Silk Glitter Kings Crown Gold Cardstock.

I added a strip of Silk Glitter Kings Crown Gold Cardstock to the left side of my card base and then glued the colored piece over it. Then I popped up the sentiment with foam tape for dimension. For some reason, every time I die-cut sentiments that have the dots for the sentiments, I seem to lose them. I end up using Nuvo drops to finish off the "i" in the sentiment.

Creating your own backgrounds is fun, and the possibilities are limitless. The gold glitter is perfect for sentiments and adding sparkle to your cards.
