Decorating the Insides

I love decorating the inside of greeting cards. Many times I simply stamp a nice quote and add a few images. But this time, I surprised the recipient with a pop-up floral. I purchased a die-set from The Ton to create the pop-up floral. You can see below that I cut the different flower layers from Astrobrights Cosmic Orange Card Stock. I like using a lighter weight paper for this and the Astrobrights worked really well. I added gold leaves and a stamen to the middle of the flower using POW Glitter Paper in Caramel.

To start, I die-cut 6 different layers of Cosmic Orange. Then began folding each layer and gluing it to the inside of the card. There are tabs on each layer that you position on both sides of the card fold. I used a little Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Glue to attach each layer. I started with the outer layer and worked my way in. To help the pop-up floral close and open, I folded each layer slightly before gluing it to the card. This helps it give when the card is opened and closed.

Next, I created another pop-up floral with the same card stock and paper to create a coordinating gift bag. I'm all set to give this to a friend for her birthday.

For another card, I created the pop-up floral using the fibrous, lightweight paper Thai Unryu in Magenta. It looks like tissue paper but is much, much stronger. I love how it turned out. I added a stamen in Astrobrights Cosmic Orange to the middle.  Both of these cards have so much impact without adding bulk. You could easily send these in the mail without extra postage.

Let me know if you have any questions. Don't forget all gold and orange card stock is on sale this month at CutCardStock.com. Until next time, inky hugs!
