Merry Christmas to you and your family! Here's to celebrating winter birthdays. I created a couple of masculine cards for the occasion. I decided to create winter scenes by stamping on Curious Metallic Cardstock. It adds a beautiful shimmer to the background. Some ink colors change slightly because of the shimmery metallic paper. But, I think it adds a nice element to the cards.
I started by stamping the two-layer birch trees on the left side. Then stamped the three-layer trees on the right. Using the MISTI stamping platform makes it easy to line up the layers. All the stamp sets are from Kitchen Sink Stamps.
I thought the trees and deer needed grounding. So, I painted around them with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and a water brush. I had a small piece of matching cardstock to use as a palette. I could mix water with the ink on this scrap piece until I got the shade I wanted. It's a little detail that really makes a difference.
Here's the finished card with a sentiment stamped on vellum along with the die-cut word "happy." Happy is also cut from Curious Metallic in Chocolate. With the scenic layers and adding the grounding around the trees and deer, this one-layer card seems to have more dimension, without the bulk of extra layers. These cards should go through the mail nicely.
You can get the same shimmery background and look using Stardream Metallic Card Stock that is on sale this month.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
