Hello Spring Wreath

The first day of spring is just around the corner, and I couldn't be more excited! We've had a very wet and cold winter and truth be told, this native Californian is not used to it. So, it's time to bring on the bright, cheery colors of spring and that's what inspired today's fun project.

To start, I chose Curious Metallic in Aloe Pale Green as the base piece for the Easter eggs that were cut out by my Silhouette CAMEO die-cutting machine. Each egg is 2" wide.

Now it's time to create the color block look on the egg diecuts. For the next step, I used three bright acrylic paints, foam brush, pencil, and washi tape. With the egg diecuts stacked, I lightly drew a mark with a pencil about halfway on both sides of them. Then, I matched the ends of the washi tape to the marked points and secured the washi tape onto the diecut. With a foam brush, I painted two coats of acrylic paint allowing each coat to dry first before applying the next coat. Then, I removed the washi tape and waited for the paint to completely dry.

I placed a 9" wooden embroidery inner hoop over a sheet of Pop-Tone in Razzleberry and traced around the outside perimeter. NOTE: There will be a gap on top and bottom since the cardstock sheet is not as tall as the 9" embroidery hoop. This is intentional and is a great way to thread our hanging ribbon.

I cut along the traced line and used my favorite crafting glue to secure the cut sheet to the back of the embroidery hoop. Using the same adhesive, I glued the color block eggs on the front of the hoop in a random pattern. I did skip an egg every so often and used foam adhesive to create a dimensional look.

Then, I found a super cute design on the Silhouette Design Store and had it cut out using the same Curious Metallic in Aloe Pale Green. I wanted the "Happy Spring" design to pop so I cut tiny pieces of foam adhesive, secured them behind the cutout, and set the design centered on the Razzleberry cardstock backing.

Lastly, I threaded a ribbon in the same color palette through the top of the embroidery hoop and voila! All done!
