Mini cards! They're perfect. Small, easy, and quick to make.
Today I'm going to show you how to decorate two of the ten mini note cards that come in the Bazzill 3x3 Scallop Mini Folded Notecards + Envelopes 10pk.
You will need:
- 2 cards from the Bazzill 3x3 Scallop Mini Folded Notecards + Envelopes 10pk
- A sheet of Basis Black 80lb Cardstock
- A background stamp (I used the mandala from the 'You' stamp by Craftin' Desert Divas)
- Embossing powder in silver, gold, and clear
- Embossing ink pad (I used one by Simon Says Stamp)
- Distress Oxide inks in Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans
- A word die (I used a 'thanks' die from Birch Press)
- Low tack adhesive
After masking the inside of your cards (I used Post It® Notes) stamp the fronts with your background stamp using your embossing ink pad. Cover one in gold embossing powder and the other in silver. Set with your heat gun.
Use your Distress Oxide inks to do a simple ink blending emboss resist technique. I used Peacock Feathers at the top, Salty Ocean in the middle, and Faded Jeans toward the bottom. Don't forget to wipe the card front with a clean, dry cloth when you're finished to get rid of the excess ink that will stick to your embossing.
I wanted to show you this photo as an explanation as to why I recommend masking the inside of the cards. Do you see how the Distress Inks got onto the Post It note? That would have been on the inside of the card had I not masked it.
Using your word die cut twice from the Basis Black Cardstock. Place the die cuts onto low tack tape. I've found that doing this makes the following technique a bit easier.
You will need to coat the die cuts in the embossing ink from your ink pad. There are two ways to do this. The first method is in the photo above; press the ink pad onto the die cut.
The second option is to press the die cut onto the ink pad.
After you do that you'll need to cover the die cut (you'll also be covering the tape but that's okay) in clear embossing powder. When you heat set them you'll want to have something to hold the tape with. Ideally, you'll have a pair of reverse tweezers. I cannot find mine so I wanted to show you that regular tweezers work just as well.
Look at that shine! Peel the die cuts from the tape and glue to your cards. That's it!
