Paper Tassel Keychain

I absolutely love the Mirrisparkle Glitter Cardstock collection on CutCardStock's website! It has a non-flaking glitter surface, and the glitter is so fine that it feels smooth, not bumpy. A dream to work with for any paper crafter!

This fun easy-to-make paper tassel keychain was made using three sheets in the grey/silver shade: silver Mirrisparkle glitter cardstock, silver foil card stock, and matte cardstock in Dolphin Grey.

Starting with a 3-inch tall strip of each cardstock, I fringe cut across with scissors creating super skinny cuts. Thin cuts help "soften" the thicker nature of cardstock and is easier to manipulate than wide cuts.

Once I got about a one-inch width of fringe, I cut it off completely and glued the three pieces together with Tombow Mono Liquid Glue.

Then, I wrapped the conjoined strip tightly around the end of a skinny paintbrush to create the tassel and secured it with glue.

The last step is fun...time to customize your tassel! For mine, I added a dark blue wide band with two skinny strips of aqua cardstock and tied it all together with magenta-colored embroidery floss.

To make it function as a keychain, I hot glued a thin "loop" of aqua cardstock into the hole on top of the tassel.

Surprisingly, the paper tassel keychain holds up pretty well. It probably wouldn't if I used regular thin paper. I love how it gives an ordinary thing like a keychain a little more pizzazz and of course, sparkle!
